Volunteer Opportunities
It is often said that volunteers are the heart of Hospice, generously offering their time, talents and endless energy. Some people volunteer because they want to give back to their community. Others volunteer because they believe in the vision and mission of Hospice. Regardless of their reasons, most volunteers will modestly say that they receive much more than they give.
Whether it's offering assistance in the office, making a weekly visit to a patient's home, or helping with an annual fund-raising activity, volunteers are greatly appreciated and essential to the Hospice team. Hospice & Palliative CareCenter volunteers are students, homemakers, professionals, seniors and retirees who care enough to share their spare time either during the day, in the evening, or on weekends. Volunteers come from all walks of life and represent the cultural diversity of our community.
If you are interested in volunteering with Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, please complete a
Volunteer Information Form.
Volunteers who wish to visit patients and families are required to attend a Volunteer Training Class.

Below is a list of the many ways you can volunteer to support Hospice & Palliative CareCenter's efforts to care for the seriously ill and bereaved in our community. If you have questions about volunteer opportunities, please don't hesitate to

Patient/Family Volunteers visit with patients who reside in their homes, in assisted living facilities or in long-term care facilities. These volunteers provide support and companionship, sometimes reading to patients, playing board games, or simply engaging in quiet conversation. Patient/ family volunteers may also run errands or transport patients to medical appointments. Volunteers who are notaries may notarize advance directives for patients (under the supervision of hospice staff).
Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home Volunteers provide support to patients and their families at the Hospice Home. These volunteers may visit with patients, provide comfort and support to family members, or staff the information desk. Volunteers also assist with other special projects at the Hospice Home, under the supervision of a Volunteer Coordinator.
Complementary Therapies Volunteers, specially trained in massage, healing touch, reflexology and reiki, provide these services to patients residing in the Hospice Home, in nursing homes or in their own homes. Requirements for level of training and/or certification may apply.
